Wanaka Festival of Colour 2023 - Bannockburn Ball

  • Wanaka Festival of Colour 2023 - Bannockburn Ball

Celebrated choreographer Michael Parmenter joins forces with Balfolk Dunedin director Kate Grace and Southern musicians Catgut and Steel (Mike Moroney, Anna Groves and Sofia Bidwell) to present two very special participatory dance events each taking their inspiration from their unique venues. The Bannockburn Ball invokes memories of dances of the mid 19th century reflecting the multitude of national identities present in those times. It also reflects the tradition of rural Memorial and Coronation halls throughout the area that played such an important role in knitting our local communities together.

The event will comprise participatory dance preceded by brief dance instruction, interspersed with occasional music and dance performances. Comfortable shoes are a must!
