Artsenta - Creative Wellbeing Programme in Central Otago

Region: Central Otago
Dates: Thu, 10 February 2022 - Sat, 31 December 2022 @ Expressions of Interest

  • Artsenta - Creative Wellbeing Programme in Central Otago

This programme provides weekly Creative Wellbeing Sessions in Alexandra, Cromwell and Wanaka and is an extension of our successful programme run in the Waitaki District. These free sessions are for adults experiencing isolation or mental health challenges.

The sessions combine art making activities and peer support in a safe and supported environment.

Entry criteria is broad and self-selecting, non-clinical and no diagnosis required. The aim is to be highly accessible and to provide a greater variety of mental health services in the region.

The Central Creative Wellbeing programme is primarily funded by the Ministry of Culture & Heritage with support from the Southern District Health Board.

 The service

  • Art and craft sessions for adults (18+) experiencing mental health challenges or receiving support for their mental health

  • Situated in a community venue (hall, community hub, etc) in a central location
  • Free of charge to those attending
  • Peer Support Worker to provide non-clinical wellbeing support to attendees as needed
  • Working closely with local peer support groups and mental health services
