The Captain aka Karl Austin
Perhaps you have heard of Karl through word of mouth? Or you may support local Taranaki Music, have followed The Extravaganza or attended one of many live music festivals or craft fair events and field days in Taranaki? No matter where you've seen our local pirate, you are sure to remember his unique and mischievous style and pizzaz.
Karl Austin is a comedic musician with a passionate talent.
The multi-instrumentalist plays and utilizes several different instruments during performances including Piano, Guitar, Fife, Trombone, Trumpet, and Tin Whistle.
There are recreated originally inspired arrangements of the greatest songs from the 50's to the 2000's and also Original music which will conjure images of zombie hordes, special muffins, personal love songs, poignant social issues, political messages and love of good toast in the listener.
Kieran Callaghan
Kieran has been an entertainer since he was a wee sprog, growing up on a dairy farm in Taranaki he was the black sheep of his peers, interested in music and theatre and always comfortable with the stage and family friendly shenanigans.
He has been an integral part of the Taranaki live music scene for the past decade hosting and helping with Open Mic nights, pub gigs and running a small business Blue Truck Entertainment which hosts pop up events, markets, pub games, MC work and council events.
Recently returned to the Extravaganza after a 4 year diversion in the music scene, he will be joining the crew for their 6th annual tour, bringing a new energy and expanded repertoire with him.
Still the black sheep and proud of it, living the Extravaganza lifestyle is truly living the change so many are touting these days.
He looks forward to reconnecting with his road family and friends and resuming the unfettered exploration of our beautiful country!
