Meet the Authors - Philip Temple & Diane Brown
Location: Alexandra Public Library, Tarbert Street
Region: Alexandra
Dates: Sat, 4 June 2016 @ 11am
The Alexandra Public Library will play host to two Dunedin-based authors, who will read from and discuss their latest books. The author chat with Philip Temple and his wife Diane Brown will be at the Alexandra Library on Saturday 4 June from 11am.
Philip's latest release MiSTORY is a 'cli-fi' novel that looks at what the future may hold if we continue with "business as usual" in the face of climate change and the surveillance society.
It is the tenth novel for the award-winning author and the latest addition to a remarkable array of work by someone who has been descried as the most versatile writer in New Zealand.
He has won awards and fellowship for his fiction, outdoors non-fiction, historical biographies, TV documentaries and children's books. He has been made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to literature and received a Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement.
Novelist, memoirist, poet and creative writing tutor Diane's new title is Taking My Mother to the Opera. It is an extended poetic family memoir, in part about post World War Two domestic life and the ageing of parents. Diane was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to writing and education in 2013 and is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards for her writing.
Alexandra Librarian Gaye Anderson said the team were looking forward to the upcoming authors visit.
"It is always interesting to meet the mind behind a written work, hear what inspired the author and their creative process. We're encouraging all our keen readers out there in Central to come along and be entertained and inspired. Bring a friend, any questions to put to our guests and don't forget your library cards too!"
