GOLD N NOTES

About 1000 country music fans are expected to converge on the Cromwell Racecourse for a three-day country music festival, to be held over 16 – 18 November.

This annual event had most recently been held in Omarama, where it was called the Omarama Merino Countrytime Hoedown, but this year it was "coming home", country music singer and festival organiser Fergie Mitchell said.

A large marquee – 60m by 18m and able to seat about 800 people – would be erected at the racecourse with some top artists from throughout the country performing.  The big event is a country music showcase on the Saturday night 17 November.
