GET READY & GET STARTED FOR TRASHION SHOW

"Trash into Fashion, that's the mission" says Heather McPherson, Chair of Cromwell Community Arts, who are out to prove that art, using creative skills and imagination can be a powerful, enjoyable and educational tool in raising awareness about waste and recycling.

The annual Trashion Show launched three years ago was initiated by the Golden Gate  whose manager Glen Christensen said " we were thrilled to get it off the ground but it's time for us to pass it on and we are pleased that the Community Arts people have stepped up particularly as they have the skill set to do so"

The Tashion Show is fast becoming one of the Central Lakes most popular eco-arts events and Heather McPherson said her group " have been staggered by the resourcefulness shown in previous shows but believe there's still lots of untapped potential ".

At the heart of Trashion Show 2015 is the creation through innovation of fashion items using re-cycled and previously used materials.

This year's show introduces new categories, contains less restrictive conditions, wipes entry fees  and generally aims to get a wider range of schools, businesses, social groups and individuals involved.

The Trashion Show 2015 will be held on Saturday 17 October in the Cromwell College Auditorium.
