What's happening in Central Otago
Central Otago Regional Choir - Bring Back the Music. Arrowtown, Wanaka and Alexandra.
Location: Arrowtown, Wanaka and Alexandra.
Region: South Island
Dates: Fri, 13 November 2020 - Sun, 15 November 2020 @ Daily.
In a year punctuated by postponements and cancellations, The Central Otago Regional Choir and conductor Richard Madden are excited to “BRING BACK THE MUSIC!”
The choir is joined by special guests: the distinguished English-born duo, Donald Cullington (piano) and Sydney Manowitz (violin). For many years they each have made their home in Dunedin, where Sydney was the Concert Master of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra for 20 years. The duo promise to enchant with a selection of much-loved miniatures, featuring Debussy. All the works have a French connection and include Chopin’s beautiful Étude in Ab, performed by Chopin specialist Donald. Accompanying the choir is talented pianist Sandra Crawshaw, who will delight with her performance of Liszt’s Liebestraum and Clément Doucet’s toe-tapping Hungaria, based on well-known Liszt melodies. In her expert hands, John Rutter’s arrangements of beloved Christmas carols are magically transformed. Equally guaranteed to touch your heart, Mark Hayes’ stunning arrangements of many all time favourites such as “Love Is Here To Stay,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” teamed with “Climb Every Mountain” will definitely lift the spirits.
Everyone will be thrilled that The Central Otago Regional Choir BROUGHT BACK THE MUSIC!
