Artists & Groups

The Queenstown Arts Society (QAS) is a volunteer-run charitable arts organization that has supported visual arts in the Whakatipu community for nearly 65 years. We exist to make visual arts more accessible by creating opportunities for people to make, exhibit, experience, and connect through art at all stages of practice - from first-time exhibitors to established artists.

QAS delivers exhibitions, artist development opportunities, public programmes, workshops, and community events that encourage participation and creative growth. Current activities include our major member exhibitions, the Laneway Showcase exhibition programme, the Queenstown Life Drawing programme, artist networking events, and partnerships that activate both established and under-utilised community spaces.

As one of the region’s longest-standing arts organisations, QAS plays an important role in nurturing local creative culture, supporting emerging artists, and creating pathways for community participation in the visual arts. While we work collaboratively with organisations including Te Atamira, QAS maintains an independent identity focused on grassroots access, artist opportunity, and community-led creative practice.
