On Sunday 4th September the SMMC Community Orchestra is again coming to Alexandra to support a combined demonstration concert with pupils from the SM Music in Central programme, and members of both the Central Otago Regional Orchestra and the Central Otago Regional Training Orchestra.

The SM Music in Central Annual Demonstration Concert will be held in Dunstan High School Hall at 3:30pm on Sunday 4th September.

The combined Orchestra will play Otago Secondary Schools Music Festival Orchestral items:

• Farandole
• Mahler 1st Symphony 3rd movement
• Strings - High School Musical
• Symphonic Band – Skyfall

And 1812 Overture - the final item of the SMMC annual demonstration concert in Dunedin.

Possibly interested in learning an Orchestra Instrument? Come and enjoy items by Violin and Cello pupils and a Combined Orchestra.

Since 1997 - (20 years)  Aart has brought the Dunedin Saturday Morning Music School Orchestra (SMMS) to Alexandra in September. This offers an opportunity for our local younger musicians tutored by the SMMS to have a run through pieces in preparation for joining all the Dunedin folk in the Town Hall, quite an event as you can imagine.
