  • Reel Life In Rural New Zealand - Bannockburn

The agricultural history of the Otago region and incredible New Zealand inventions will be showcased in all their cinematic glory when Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision and Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga partner to present a programme of films that spans the 20th century. The films will be screened at the historic Kawarau Station Woolshed.

"Reel Life in Rural New Zealand" is a dynamic programme of films that pay tribute to the rich and diverse heritage of the Otago and Southland regions.

The 75-minute programme encompasses farming history, shearing gangs, and kiwi inventions dating back to 1913 - including the new 1953 master comb, the first electric tractor, and Percy Fisher’s 1913 monoplane.

Films documenting life on Matukituki Valley Station (1932), Totara Estate (1958), and interviews with Otago identities are included in the programme. The new (1954) off-road on-road Austin Champ is demonstrated at Waitiri Station, and a selection of farming funnies, among them Fred Dagg and the Trevs, round off the film show.

2.30pm screening: $10.00 7.30pm screening: $15.00 Door Sales Only
