Location: Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery
Region: Alexandra
Dates: Mon, 1 June 2026 - Mon, 20 July 2026 @ 10.00am - 4.00pm
Meet Aotearoa New Zealand’s most famous crustaceans in this hands-on touring exhibition from Te Papa Tongarewa, created in partnership with NIWA Taihoro Nukurangi.
Crustaceans can change their shape, circle the globe, and may even hold clues to curing cancer — they truly are the unsung heroes of the sea. Come and discover the extraordinary world of the mantis shrimp, kÅura, king crab, barnacle and more through real specimens, a digital microscope, and four fun hands-on interactives. All exhibition text is bilingual in te reo MÄori and English.
Entry is free and the exhibition is suitable for all ages. A free downloadable Activity Book is available from the Te Papa website.
