Youth Calendar

A group of young musicians on the cusp of professional careers are selected by audition to form an ensemble at the 2025 Adam Summer School for Chamber Music. 

This program offers a deeply immersive journey into the realm of ‘inner landscapes,’ exploring the profound emotional territories that music can evoke. We begin with Salina Fisher’s ‘Heal,’ a powerful testament to resilience and the process of rebuilding after trauma, setting the stage for an exploration of emotional transfiguration. Haydn’s Op. 50 No. 5 invites the audience into ‘dream’ like spaces of the subconscious, while Webern’s ‘Langsamer Satz’ plunges us into a world of intense introspection. 

The program continues with the distinct but contrasting voices of Alfred Hill, whose music offers moments of pure, unadulterated self-expression, and Benjamin Britten, whose witty and surprising fragments and interruptions subtly comment on the complexities and contradictions of human nature. Through these carefully chosen works, we aim to create a concert experience that resonates with the audience on a deeply personal level, illuminating the intricate and ever-shifting landscapes of the human heart.
