Celebrating the Cromwell Multicultural Mural Project in conjunction with Bislama Lanuguage Week. [Sun, 12 November 2023]
The Cromwell Multicultural Mural Project Celebration
Earlier this year the Central Otago District Arts Trust and Welcoming Communities Central Otago collaborated on a project designed to welcome cultural diversity in our community. Renowned Street Artist Ling was commissioned to complete the work which explores the diverse, dynamic and evolving nature of our community and the power of sport to facilitate integration, connection and belonging. The work depicts the faces of six Central Otago people who represent those who have been welcomed and those who welcome others into our area.
The official unveiling of the mural took place on the 12th of November alongside the celebration of Bislama Language Week. An official blessing was held followed by speeches by several members of the local community.
