Internationally renowned for his innovative blend of jazz, classical and Mediterranean folk traditions, Luca Ciarla draws a new musical route in the Mediterranean with a loop pedal, his voice, and a few instruments. Performing solo and entirely live, he recreates the sound of a full ensemble, playing the violin like a guitar, a cello, or even percussion. In this imaginative landscape, Luca sings, whistles, and adds new improvisations as the music continuously evolves into his dazzling solOrkestra.
The program Mediterramìa features original compositions alongside fresh interpretations of traditional Italian and Mediterranean melodies. Ciarla has performed at major festivals and venues around the world — from the Montreal Jazz Festival to Celtic Connections in Scotland, from the Villa-Lobos Festival in Brazil to the Melbourne Jazz Festival and the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome — reaching audiences in more than 70 countries.
