A 20+ year career began as a member of the Canadian group The Be Good Tanyas. Since leaving them she has recorded nine studio albums, toured the world and collaborated with dozens of artists. Two of her most recent collaborations have been with Buck Meek of Big Thief, and with our own Theia (TE KAAHU) on the track My Sister’s Hands in Mine. Their voices mingle hauntingly in this song, so beautiful.
Jolie Holland is an artist that you’d never listen to and mistake for anyone else. Texas born but California has been her home for a long time, she has a very distinctive song writing style. there is a timelessness to her songs that somehow evokes the Louisiana Bayous, Mexican deserts and dirty downtown 2020’s LA almost within the same breath.
Her smoky, intimate almost whispery vocals can sing of passionate love or terrible crimes, and you’ll felt equally drawn in to the song, equally mesmerised.
