The New Zealand Hoffman Challenge , which is held annually and sponsored by Needle N Thread, is one of New Zealand’s main quilt competitions. Quilters must create a quilt based on a chosen piece of fabric.
The competition is named for 'Hoffman’s' who are a manufacturer of fine 100% cotton fabric in the United States. Their fabric is renowned for its quality and beauty, and the Challenge Fabric is always chosen from their latest ranges.
The rules and annual challenge fabric vary in the different countries that hold the competition. New Zealand, however, is the only country that has the rule of the finished quilt not being square or rectangular.
For the 2011/12 Hoffman challenge there were 35 Entries. 18 were chosen to travel and this is your opportunity to see some really unique and wonderful pieces of fabric craft.
