Violet Hirst - 'Where have all the Good Songs Gone'.
Location: The Blue Door, 18 Buckingham Street, Arrowtown
Region: Arrowtown
Dates: Thu, 7 April 2022 @ 6.30 - 7.30pm and 8,30 - 9.30pm
Wellington based local artist Violet Hirst ponders the question as to whatever happened to the great songs of the past. Digging deep into the vaults of her parents LP collection she chooses some brilliant classics from torch singers of the past, offering her own twist on Nina Simone, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley, Elizabeth Frazer, Bic Runga and The Bangles, Patti Smith with one or two of her own.
"So many modern songs are just not that interesting for singers." says Violet
Violet Hirst is an original artist who has been touring and performing at festivals around the country. She has been compared to Aldus Harding, and featured on Flying Nun and Under The Radar.
"Hirst performs original songs new and old...interwoven with the sweetest banter...while you prepare for goosebumps and chills upon listening" (Flying Nun).
Violet is joined by Louis Koopman on keys with a few backing vocals by Margaret O'Hanlon.
