Location: Arrowtown, Wanaka and Alexandra
Region: South Island

Time to get your toes tapping when The Central Otago Regional Choir presents its November 2021 Concert Series WE GOT RHYTHM! Conducted by Richard Madden, accompanied by Sandra Crawshaw (piano) and supported by the drumming skill of local legend Peter Doyle, the choir knows that you will happily swing along to the much loved melodies of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and the Gershwin brothers. What better way to also welcome the joy of the coming Christmas season than by hearing a selection of John Rutter’s unforgettable original carols such as “Jesus Child” and “Shepherd’s Pipe Carol”? The choir is also proud to introduce two remarkable guest artists: Abhinath Berry (piano) and Rhiannon Cooper (soprano). Abhinath only took up the piano when he was about 15 years old, and yet this year, a mere 5 years later, he placed second in the Dunedin Concerto Competition. Rhiannon had to overcome problems with deformed vocal cords and following a nose operation in 2014, her voice grew to be the exquisite instrument it has become. A member of the New Zealand Youth Choir (2017 - 2019) and now a member of Octagon Ensemble, this year Rhiannon shared the stage in a solo capacity with none other than Simon O’Neill and Anna Leese. Masks ready? Come and groove away those Covid Blues!
