Classical Jazz Quartet at Rippon
Location: Rippon Hall
Region: Wanaka
Dates: Sat, 20 October 2018 @ 7.30pm - 9.15pm
From a dazzling display of virtuosity to intriguing sultry warmth, from mellow moments to upbeat swing, this is the concert that will keep you smiling into the weeks ahead!
Described as “sonic fireworks that dazzle with all their brilliance” and “characterized by inspirational musicianship,” the Classical Jazz Quartet brings an eclectic mix of classical music infused with the fun and rhythmic energy of jazz.
CJQ will showcase music from the swing era, to Jerome Kern, to their own creative and imaginative adaptations of classical works, including the ever-popular Vivaldi's Spring (Four Seasons), CPE Bach's Solfeggieto and the wild Sabre Dance by Khachaturian.
The Classical Jazz Quartet are delighted to return to the region; this time presenting their concert publicly at the magnificent Rippon Hall.
CJQ consists of four outstanding professional Christchurch-based musicians: Cathy Irons (violin), Barry Brinson (piano), Michael Davis (bass) and Doug Brush (drums). Each a recognised musician in their own field, the four musicians revel in getting together, ignoring convention and freely cross the boundaries of music with conviction and delight. All have extensive NZ and international experience.
