Conversations - A series of musical dialogues between players of the Central Otago Regional Orchestra
COVID cancelled our May concert series and led to some creative thinking about how CORO could function during these times of restricted social contact. Coming out of higher levels of lockdown permitted numbers able to get together led naturally to smaller groups of players joining together to make music. The joy of musical conversations has been experienced throughout lockdown and has led to creative sharing on social media.
We take great pleasure in presenting to you a programme of classical music that will include a nod to Beethoven with his Septet in his celebratory year, experience the poignancy of loss in Faure’s Pavane and Offenbach’s Jacqueline’s Tears, and taste (wasn’t lockdown all about the food?) a smorgasbord of compositions such as Schubert’s String Trio in B flat, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and the quirky Under the Sea, by Alan Menken. With the addition of other composers from multiple countries, by the end of the concert you will have had the overseas trip you have been denied this year!
Small intimate venues (Bannockburn Hall and Ranfurly Town Hall) have been selected by CORO for these concerts to comply with COVID restrictions. These acoustically sound venues offer the opportunity for musical themes and styles to be thrown back and forth in continuous dialogue.
We would love to see you there:
Ranfurly Town Hall, October 4th at 2.30pm.
