Central Otago Regional Choir

Organisation / Group: Central Otago Regional Choir, Rehearsal venue: Anglican Church Hall, Cromwell.

The Central Otago Regional Choir is a mixed voice community choir based in the Central Otago Region. It was formed in 2004 as a result of work done by John Buchanan in organising concerts with singers from round the region.

After a successful performance of Messiah at the end of 2003 it was decided to put the choir on a more permanent basis. The driving forces behind this were the present patron Mike Allison and Trevor Williams, who set up the constitution and the legal matters to enable the choir to become an incorporated society.

The choir gave its first concert in May 2004 to very good reviews.

The choir's year consists of two concert series - one in May and the other in November. Rehearsals for the choir generally start at the end of January for the May Concerts and in August for the November series.

The current musical director is Richard Madden.

Anyone interested in joining the choir should email the choir chairperson Chris Allan at , or the secretary Ann Davis at .
