VERY SORRY CANCELLED

"Jim McIvor, born in Glasgow and raised on the Isle of Mull,  was immersed in Scottish traditional music from a young age, becoming a junior solo bagpipe champion at 14, then an accomplished lead singer of various successful folk-rock bands in Scotland.  Jim sings, plays guitar and Irish whistles.  Roslyn Hutton, started life as a Kodaly-trained classical musician in Australia, then travelled overseas to pursue an interest in Scottish and Irish traditional music, studying Clarsach (Celtic harp) under Karen Marshalsay -a leading Scottish harp player and composer, and the fiddle at the Glasgow fiddle school.  Roslyn plays Clarsach, fiddle,  piano and sings.  Jim and Roslyn moved to Ranfurly a few years ago, and currently teach bagpipes, guitar, piano, keyboard, harp, violin and singing to students attending the Maniototo Area School and St Johns.  This year, they have also been invited to teach students from Poolburn and Omakau schools."

Here is a short blurb about the music, from an article published in "The Review" by Kay Dundass after the Ranfurly concert:

"..the atmosphere was in keeping to the sometimes haunting, sometimes toe tapping music these talented professionals thrilled us with, guitar, keyboard, harp and violin all blending Irish, Scottish & Welsh melodies were played.  As one appreciative patron said, "this sort of music gets you in the back of the neck making the hairs rise, just wonderful".
