Sue Patterson and friends invite you to a concert of beautiful songs from opera and shows in the magnificent Thomas Brown Gallery. 3pm Sunday 14 February. Featuring solos and duets for Valentine’s Day by Handel, Rossini, Gershwin, Mozart and Purcell. With vocalists Sue Patterson, Anna Morley, Deborah Lind, Alan Pickard and Sally Geddes.

A bracket of romantic Gershwin songs from Porgy and Bess is a highlight of this concert. The singers take you through the ages with a beautiful duet version of Where’er You Walk by Handel, and the sublime Ombra Ma Fu. We take a cheeky look at the Rossini Cat Duet and Mozart’s Voi Che Sapete and there are few vocal surprises.

The Thomas Brown Gallery is a stunning venue for music both vocally and visually with Thomas’s art and the gallery creating a charming and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the performance.

Soprano Sue Patterson is a singer and singing teacher in the Queenstown area, also known for directing the vocal ensemble, Remarkable Vocals. Sue has sung with Southern Opera and was soloist in the Canada leg of the Cathedral of TheBlessed Sacrament 2005 Americas tour. The supporting singers are pupils of Sue’s. Anna Morley, Soprano, is a very accomplished singer with a particular love for Handel and Mozart music. Alan Pickard, Baritone, from Omakau has mastered a delightful range of music from British Art to Jazz, while Deborah Lind, MezzoSoprano is well known for her acting with Remarkables Theatre as well as specialising in musical theatre songs. Sally Geddes, a newcomer to performing and has a delightful Soprano voice. Accompanists Alison Frude and Jeanette Roberson.
