Formidable Vegetable Sound System - Wanaka
Location: Gin & Raspberry
Region: Wanaka
Dates: Fri, 3 July 2015 @ 8pm
The Solution to Climate Change Just Got a Whole Lot Funkier On July 3rd, something very special will be happening at the Gin & Raspberry in Wanaka with Western Australia’s ecological electroswing collective, Formidable Vegetable Sound System gracing the stage to launch what could possibly be described as the world’s first ‘sustainable-dubstep-ukulele’ album.
Touring for the past three years to some of the world’s largest festivals including Glastonbury (UK), BOOM (Portugal) and Shambhala (Canada) as well as NZ’s own Luminate Festival back in January, the award-winning band from Fremantle, Western Australia (via Melbourne) have become notorious across the globe for their dynamic live performances promoting sustainability and the joys of gardening through dance music. "So infectious that the most ardent climate sceptic would have trouble staying still" (Peter Vincent - Sydney Morning Herald) To call this band unique would be a gross understatement, but although Formidable Vegetable Sound System has become known for their brass-soaked ukulele songs about peak-oil, plant propagation and permaculture, they have recently directed their extraordinary quirkiness into collaborations with some of the world’s finest electronic music producers including JPOD (Canada), Spoonbill, Griff and Bumble (Australia). The result is an album of epically funky proportions entitled Radish Beets, which is destined to move listeners from the dancefloor to the veggie patch. Free Entry!
