Local photographers Annemarie Hope-Cross and Eric Schusser will be exhibiting their photographic artistry o at Speargrass Inn for the next couple of months.

About the artists:

Annemarie Hope-Cross
She graduated with a Diploma in Photographic Arts from Whitecliffe Art School in 1989. Having worked in Auckland in a portrait studio and the photographic studio of a large advertising agency, Annemarie shifted to Central Otago in 2008 to develop her photography further.

In 2011 she travelled to the UK to attend two historic photography workshops by world renowned tutors Mark Osterman and France Scully Osterman. Back in New Zealand she has incorporated these techniques into her work, with some of her most recent images being of old goldminers buildings photographed using the very first photographic technique, known as Photogenic Drawing.

Eric Schusser
Eric is an emerging photographic artist who specialises in toned black and white photographs but his extensive body of images encompasses landscape, fine art, editorial and social documentary work. Eric’s work features in a number of magazines both in New Zealand and overseas and he has had one book published by St john entitled EXTRAordinary - Ambulance Officers – photographs and stories which had a print run of 10,000 copies.

Eric is a member of the Hullabaloo artists’ collective and he exhibits permanently at their Gallery in Old Cromwell Town. His work has been exhibited in a considerable number of Galleries throughout New Zealand. Eric completed an Advanced Diploma in Photography at the highly respected Massey University of Wellington Design School in 1990 and is a Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand.

Eric lives and works in Alexandra where he is Head of Outdoor Education at Dunstan High School. He is also a volunteer ambulance officer with St John and enjoys cross country skiing, telemark skiing, tramping and rock climbing.
