A window on nature – Photogenic drawings by Annemarie Hope-Cross

The 5th December sees the launch of A window on nature  - an exhibition of photogenic drawings by fourth generation photographer Annemarie Hope-Cross.  During an Artist’s Residency at Lacock Abbey (the birthplace of photography) in Wiltshire, England, Annemarie built up a portfolio of photogenic drawings using one of the earliest photographic processes.   This exhibition showcases a collection of photographic drawings created during Annemarie’s time at Lacock Abbey and will be on show in the Gillian Grant Room at Central Stories until 18th January 2015.

“Southernness” – Landscape paintings by Jane Whitaker

“Southernness”  is a collection of Landscape paintings by Yorkshire born artist Jane Whitaker. Jane’s love of the rugged landscapes of the moors and the wild places of Northern Britain has been rekindled by the raw tussock lands of the Maniototo. Inspired by the region’s translucent light, harshness of climate and a sense of belonging to “Southernness” in a landscape, Jane has captured the dramatic and ever changing scenes of Central Otago in this exhibition which runs in the Russell Henderson Gallery at Central Stories from 5th December to 18th January 2015.

Central Stories are currently taking bookings for Artist Workshops relating to the exhibitions.  Annemarie will be hosting a photogenic drawing session from her darkroom and Jane will be running a workshop about the importance of underpainting.  Information & booking forms are available from front desk together with consent forms (for under 18’s).
