Tottle Trio

The glorious sound of the trumpet, strings and piano will blend together again, as the popular Tottle Trio consisting of Cathy Irons (violin), Bruce Roberts (trumpet) and Grant Bartley (piano) return to perform in Queenstown.
This outstanding group is excited to perform a new work by Malcolm Dedman, especially written for them alongside an array of music; from Bernstein's West Side story, the glittery Vivaldi's Double Concerto for Trumpet and Violin (arr.), to the breathless Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending. Bruce will display his versatility by playing the Corno di Cacia (hunting horn) in the brilliant Sperger Concerto.

Cathy Irons (violin) -
Cathy played in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, South Africa and is now a first violinist and the Community Engagement Project Leader for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. She has toured nationally for Chamber Music NZ with her string trio, Tres Cordes, which has recently been invited to perform at a festival in Majorca, Spain in 2017. She also travels regularly to perform in Sydney. She has been guest concertmaster for the Vector Wellington Sinfonia and currently leads the Jubilate Chamber Orchestra. Another string to her bow is her cross-over jazz playing in her group, The Classical Jazz Quartet.
Bruce Roberts (trumpet) -
Bruce is Principal Trumpet with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and has held similar positions with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and the Vector Wellington Orchestra. He has also appeared in concert with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane Australia, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Sinfonia. Bruce has worked professionally in Europe. He presently teaches trumpet at Canterbury University and has an extensive private teaching practice in Christchurch.
Grant Bartley (piano) -
For the last ten years, Grant has been Assistant HOD of Music at Cashmere High School, he is the Musical Director of the Christchurch Youth Choir, Assistant Conductor of Addington Brass Band and works as an accompanist and conductor for the Christchurch Primary Schools Music Festival. Formally the Assistant Director of Music and Organist at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Grant frequently works as an organist, harpsichordist, accompanist and conductor in Christchurch and New Zealand.
