Johnny Cash Tribute "The Man Comes Around"
Location: Cromwell and Districts Presbyterian Church, 10 Elspeth Street,
Region: Cromwell
Dates: Fri, 31 July 2015 @ 7.30pm
Grammy nominated kiwi country singer Peter Caulton presents a Johnny Cash tribute show at Cromwell and Districts Presbyterian Church Cromwell Friday 31 July 7.30pm Peter has included a selection of gospel songs from Johnny's 10 gospel albums along with the secular material in the program. This is a rare opportunity to hear some of Johns later sacred songs like "The Man Comes Around", "God´s Gonna Cut You Down", "Redemption", “Ain`t no Grave can Hold My Body Down”, along with more traditional country gospel songs like “Peace in the Valley”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Wings of a Dove”, “I Saw the Light”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, “Children Go Where I Send Thee” and more.
With some of the songs in the show coming from Johnny`s Grammy-award winning American Recordings from the late 1990s and early 2000 this show has appeal for a wide age group. Johnny is very popular with a younger audience in New Zealand who know and love many of the Man in Blacks later Grammy award winning American recordings and his videos on MTV and the academy award winning movie "Walk the Line". Hopefully we will see some young folks turn out for this performance.
Peter Caulton has performed in over 20 countries. His European fans call him “The Voice”. His deep rich soulful manly baritone is very similar to Mr Cash so one gets the feeling of a Johnny Cash performance when he sings. He performed this mix of secular and gospel songs of Johnny Cash in churches in Germany to standing ovations. Cash is Cool
