Cromwell Cherry Festival 2016

Location: McNultys Garden, Cromwell Heritage Precinct
Region: Cromwell
Dates: Sun, 3 January 2016 @ 11am - 1pm

  • Cromwell Cherry Festival 2016

Held in Cromwell the fruit bowl of the south, the Cromwell Cherry Festival celebrates the first delicious stonefruit of the season.

This is a unique event where contestants compete to spit a cherry stone the farthest to become the New Zealand Cherry Stone Spitting Champion.

Cromwell Cherry Festival is on the 3rd January 11am - 1pm in McNultys Garden, Cromwell Heritage Precinct. The event is a festival of all things cherries, and features Flame Entertainment, Lily Lightly, Fantail Hoops and MC Ricky K. Competitions include a colouring competition (form attached) to be judged by hullabaloo art space, a cherry pie eating competition, and a cherry baking competition to be judged by The Stash (bring your baking to McNulty Garden at 11am).

Join in the fun and festivities, and make sure you have a go to spit your cherry stone the farthest. Remember if you win you will be NZ Champion. Top spitters are invited to take part in the Cromwell Cherry Stone Spitting Trans Tasman contest, at the NZ Rural Games in Queenstown on February 7th 2016.

Last year the Cromwell winner ‘spat’ a Cherry Stone a distance of 11.67m. How far do you think you can spit?
