A FLIGHT OF SONG
In the second weekend of May, The Central Otago Regional Choir, conducted by John Buchanan and Guest Conductor Carole Randall, will transport you to a hauntingly beautiful and exciting world of choral masterpieces in “A Flight of Song.” Complimented by the equally inspiring and very accessible works of other contemporary composers, this concert series features the internationally acclaimed Norwegian born composer Ola Gjeilo, now resident in New York. As well as the sublime “Ubi Caritas,” “The Ground” and “Tundra” which previously captivated the choir’s audiences, there will be the opportunity to hear “The Rose,” just published in February, this year. Accompanied by string players from The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and the virtuosic pianism of Sharon McLennan, the concert culminates in the inspirational “Luminous Night of the Soul,” a work of symphonic proportions. Come and learn why Ola Gjeilo’s music is topping music charts around the world!
