Originally from the Taieri (near Dunedin), Jeff left NZ at the age of 19 to work for 4 years on a station in Western Australia, returning only to continue travelling with his now wife, Amie. They returned to New Zealand, marrying beside the Coalpit Damn in Naseby. Their two girls attend Maniototo Area School.
A keen hunter and fisherman, Jeff enjoys the outdoor lifestyle of rural New Zealand. Jeff has spent the last 8 years working on ‘Willowbank’ farm in Waipiata.
With a background in agricultural contracting, engineering and farming sculpting would perhaps not have been a logical pastime. However, Jeff always had a creative streak, enjoying working with his hands, sketching and draughting plans. After dabbling in picture framing & furniture making, Jeff discovered sandstone. He was offered access to Oamaru Stone from an old building and began experimenting.
The most popular has been the koru design with its significance in Maori culture for strength and new beginnings as well as its kiwi connection to the silver fern. He has also been commissioned to make pieces as designed by the customer.
