National Poetry Week - Central Otago.

Central Otago is celebrating National Poetry Day 2019 with a week of poetry based activities from the 19th - 23rd August 2019.
Poetry Display: From NOW until the 16th submit your own, or your favourite poem to reception at Central Stories or email: [email protected]. We will display these at Central Stories for the duration of the week.
Giant Community Poem: From the 19th - 23rd August we invite the Central Otago Community to go along to Central Stories between 10am - 4pm, daily, to contribute to an evolving Giant Community Poem.
Shakespeare Workshop: On Thursday the 22nd at 11am, come along to the Central Stories theatre and take part in the Shakespeare interactive workshop directed by Rozena Hallum. Entry is free, everyone is welcome - be prepared for a celebation of verse, language and laughter.
'Take a Risk, Make a Poem': August 23rd, 5.30 at Central Stories. The evening will be introduced by local Bannockburn poetry enthusiast Alan Coull. Following this, Central Otago authors, Kyle Mewburn, Michael Harlow, Brian Turner, Jillian Sullivan and Mike Riddell will share some of their works and then we will offer up an 'Open Mic' session. All ages and abilities welcome to come along to this fun and convivial celebration of the written word.
Throughout the week keep an eye out for works by local and established poets and song writers posted throughout town. Regular readings will be also aired on Radio Central.
