Jackie Bristow and Friends - Arrowtown
Location: Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall
Region: Arrowtown
Dates: Sun, 9 August 2020 @ 4pm.
Queenstown-based Turn Up the Music Trust presents Jackie Bristow and friends at the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall on Sunday 9th August at 4pm.
We feel very privileged to have Jackie headlining this concert and being an inspiration to our own aspiring young QT stars. Join Jackie and local musical talent for an evening of upbeat, toe-tapping music.
New Zealand born, Nashville (USA) based singer-songwriter Jackie Bristow began singing and writing songs at an early age in Gore and first performed with her sister in their school church choir. Jackie's talent and song writing skills saw her establish herself as a critically acclaimed Americana/Country musician in the United States, where she has been living and performing since 2005.
She performs internationally and has opened for stars like Chris Isaak, Boz Skaggs, Bonnie Raitt, Foreigner, Tommy Emmanuel and The Steve Miller Band.
Jackie was on tour in New Zealand (happily for us) the pandemic prevented her return to Nashville. At the Arrowtwon Athenaeum Hall, she’ll be joined by Queenstown music stalwart Mark Wilson, the Wakatipu High School Choir led by Margaret O’Hanlon and other young local musicians.
This is a fundraising event for the Turn Up the Music Youth Song Writing Competition, which will be held later this year.
“Music and song writing is an amazing outlet. It gets young people off their devices and gets them being creative and in touch with their feelings. If I’d had that encouragement and guidance at that age, I would have been elated to have that connection,” says Jackie.
Adults $25.00 and under 18s $5.00. Tickets via Eventfinda.
