What's happening in Central Otago
Framing our Future Photo Voice Competition
Region: Central Otago
Dates: Tue, 13 October 2020 - Fri, 20 November 2020 @ Entries Open Now.
They say a picture paints a thousand words. The Central Otago District Council want to 'hear' your thoughts through photos.
Grab your camera or your smartphone and capture what you love about Central Otago and our lifestyle here. We want to see the spaces, the moments and the activities that contribute to your well-being. And we'd love to see our people in the picture too – our faces, our spaces.
We'll be selecting the best of these to illustrate our Long-term Plan documents with images of and by our community.
Plus four of our favourite images, one to represent each of the community well-beings (outlined below), will be enlarged and framed to grace the wall outside NgÄ Hau e WhÄ, our Council’s main meeting room in Alexandra.
And no, it’s not just about the glory of having your shot in our publication or permanently exhibited in our William Fraser Building Council HQ … there’s prizes up for grabs too, including the chance to pay it forward to a community group!
PRIZES:Rangatahi Prize (open to youth 12-24 years of age) – $100 Prezzy cardWell-being category winners – x4 winners will each receive a $50 Prezzy card, plus we'll be asking the winners to nominate a local community group or organisation for a morning tea shout.Interested? Please read on….
Here’s a bit more background before you get snapping. Due to a change in legislation, councils are now charged with promoting community well-being. This means that CODC, as your local authority, is responsible for promoting the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of our communities.
Next year we will be consulting on our Long-term Plan 2021-2031 and the Community Well-beings will be front and centre, so we are inviting photographic entries in four categories:
Social Well-beingEconomic Well-beingEnvironmental Well-beingCultural Well-being
Upload your image below (1MB size or larger) along with your contact details and a 50-word (max) description explaining your photo entry and how it fits the category. Please read our competition Terms & Conditions and then get clicking!
Submit your photo(s) by 20 November 2020.
