Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery - Indigo - Exhibition Opening.
Location: Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery
Region: Alexandra
Dates: Fri, 22 November 2019 @ 5.30pm
Come along to Central Stories to celebrate the opening of an exhibition of works by Indigo artists - Rachel Hirabayashi, Annemarie Hope-Cross, Lynne Wilson, Luke Anthony, Shaun Burdon, Judy Cockeram, Megan Huffadine, Jillian Porteous and Nigel Wilson.
Indigo is an informal collaboration of award-winning Central Otago artists who mount group exhibitions of their work. “The Indigo artists have known each other for a number of years as we all live in Central Otago. We were looking for a new way to support each other and show our work together as a group. As far as we are aware this way of working together is a first for the South Island and possibly New Zealand,” said Megan Huffadine.
To date, Indigo has curated two small exhibitions in the Otago region. The upcoming Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery exhibition is providing the group with an opportunity to put together its largest show of works showing a diverse range of artistic practice The large spaces provided by the Central Stories means that each member will be able to exhibit a significant body of new work.
Indigo is also providing the public with an opportunity to learn more about these artists. A varied programme of public events will be running every Sunday the exhibition is on. These events range from floor talks to artists at work and children’s art classes.
