  • Central Stories - Gregory O'Brien, Floor Talk.

Artist Gregory O'Brien will be giving a floor talk on his exhibition 'Wading Birds of Drybread' at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery.

From January 2018 until January 2019, Wellington-based artist and writer Gregory O’Brien, and his wife, poet Jenny Bornholdt, lived and worked in the Henderson House, Alexandra - an artist residency run by the Henderson Arts Trust.

'Having spent much of my life—some 56 years—near the coast and usually within sight of the sea, the move to Central Otago for 12 months opened up a new imaginative territory. Basing ourselves in Alexandra, a few kilometres from the furthest point in New Zealand from the ocean, Jen and I became the ‘wading birds’ in the exhibition title. (The ‘Drybread’ in the title is a settlement not far from Alexandra.) The works in this gallery are an account of how the year in the region was spent.'
