Region: Central Otago

'LIGHT AND GLORY' THE CENTRAL OTAGO REGIONAL CHOIR MAY CONCERT SERIES 2019.
At the end of the second week of May, The Central Otago Regional Choir presents 'LIGHT AND GLORY,' showcasing works by Handel and Fauré, with guest conductor, Richard Madden,
organist Simon Mace, pianist Sandra Crawshaw and guest artists, soprano Erica Paterson and baritone Scott Bezett.
Experience the glorious splendour of the famous 'Zadok the Priest' and 'Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened,' two of the four Coronation Anthems, written by Handel for the coronation of George II and Queen Caroline in 1727 and performed at all subsequent coronations. Be inspired by the sublime and deeply personal music of Fauré, culminating in a performance of his exquisite Requiem in D minor. Uniquely optimistic, imbued with unforgettable melodies, Fauré intended his Requiem to be as he envisaged death: “A happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.”
