ARTS GOLD AWARDS - CENTRAL OTAGO.


The Arts Gold Awards Central Otago aims to seek and celebrate the finest artisans this country has to offer. The awards are open to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. Artists are invited to submit their best artwork to the esteemed selection panel for the highest level of exposure and recognition. 

All work must be the original work of the applicant, suitable for gallery installation and available for sale.

AIMS

*Encourage excellence in the visual arts by Central Otago artists.

*Showcase the best of visual arts from Central Otago artists, exhibited alongside their contemporaries from around New Zealand.

*Provide an opportunity for dialogue about visual arts in Central Otago.

*Expose Central Otago audiences to excellent artworks.

*Build on the Central Otago Arts Strategy of creating Central Otago as an arts destination.

*To create an opportunity for young people with the introduction of a young person's competition

*Entries must be the original, unaided work of the entrant, executed within the last two years.

CENTRAL OTAGO ART SOCIETY - Blossom Festival Art Exhibition. 

The Central Otago Art Society Blossom Festival Art Exhibition is held every year in September to coincide with the Alexandra Blossom Festival.

Entries are open for members and non-members to submit and sell their work.

Central Otago Art Society Easter Cash & Carry Exhibition.

Due to the COVID - 19 lockdown 2020 the Central Otago Art Society Easter Cash and Carry Exhibition has been cancelled.

The Central Otago Art Society operates an annual Easter Exhibition in the township of Historic Clyde. Art Society members and non-members are invited to exhibit and sell their work throughout the duration of the show. The exhibition is held in the Clyde Masonic Lodge on Sunderland St in conjunction with the popular Clyde Food and Wine Festival. 

HOPE & SONS ART AWARDS

Hope and Sons Art Awards

The Hope and Sons Art Awards are a very successful biennial event, first starting in 1998 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Otago province. Held by The Otago Art Society in the Dunedin Railway Station this award has attracted many gifted artists from throughout the South Island and has proved extremely popular with the public.

CRAIGS ASPIRING ART PRIZE - WANAKA [ASPIRING ART PRIZE]

Located in beautiful Wanaka the Craigs Aspiring Art Prize is the Holy Family Catholic Schools main fundraiser and their aim is to foster and encourage New Zealand artists. This annual event attracts artists from around New Zealand and is becoming a nationally recognised art award. The winning prize of $10,000 is proudly sponsored by Craigs Investment partners. FIELDAYS NO. 8 WIRE NATIONAL ART AWARD

Launched in 1997, the annual awards challenge artists to create a sculpture from no.8 wire and has become renowned for the ingenious and unique entries it attracts. The award is coordinated by Waikato Museum and held at ArtsPost, and is sponsored by Fieldays.

THE ORIGINAL ART SALE

Auckland's largest art market, and is now back for a fourth year at TelstraClear Pacific, Maukau City. Over 1,400 artworks by more than 400 New Zealand artists will be available for sale at the massive 3 day event.

CLIFTONS ART PRIZE

Cliftons Art Prize is an annual competition that helps raise the profiles of local artists and encourages corporate patronage of the arts. Cliftons Art Prize offers international exposure for local artists across Asia Pacific.

It is open to emerging and established artists in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore. Entry into the Art Prize is FREE.

PETERS DOIG MARLBOROUGH ART AWARDS


A renowned national exhibition, attracting numerous top New Zealand artists, the Peters Doig Marlborough Art Awards attracts a flood of high-quality entries every year. The annual art awards are held at the Yealands Estate Marlborough Gallery, at High St in Blenheim.

Artworks are selected by a judging panel.

MOLLY MORPETH CANADAY ART AWARD

This award is promoted and managed by Arts Whakatane in conjunction with Te kōputu a te whanga a Toi, Whakatāne Library and Exhibition Centre.

THE PARKIN DRAWING PRIZE

The Parkin Drawing Prize is Aotearoa New Zealand’s premier award for drawing. It promotes drawing in all its forms – as discovery, a testing of ideas, and decision making.

WALLACE ART AWARDS

The Annual Wallace Art Awards aim to support, promote and expose New Zealand contemporary art and artists. Sir James Wallace established the Annual Wallace Art Awards 24 years ago. These Awards are now the longest surviving and largest annual art awards of their kind in New Zealand, with a value amounting to over $195,000. They differ from other important New Zealand art prizes in that they aim to provide challenging opportunities and broadening experiences to the four major winners by way of residencies at top-class international institutions. Many of the winners and finalists of the Awards are purchased by the Trust each year to add to the Collection.

The Awards are given for contemporary New Zealand painting, sculpture, video, drawing and unique photography and print to encourage and develop the visual arts in New Zealand, and in particular to reward artists creating outstanding work.

ADAM PORTRAITURE AWARD

New Zealand’s premier portrait prize is back with a record number of entries. The final selection has been whittled down to just fifty-nine. From intimate portraits of family members, to bold depictions of New Zealand’s pop icons, this years award is diverse!

This biennial award is for painted portraits, of New Zealanders, by New Zealanders and presents a breadth of responses to identity, and representation.

THE NEW ZEALAND PAINTING AND PRINTMAKING AWARD

To support the visual arts in the wider community, the Waikato Society of Arts (WSA) sponsors numerous competitions. These range from the Youth Art Award for young artists throughout New Zealand to the Business Art Award for Waikato businesses. The WSA's premier competition is the annual New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award, a prestigious event drawing applications from around the country and from NZ artists living overseas.

PORTAGE CERAMIC AWARDS

The Portage Ceramic Awards are New Zealand premier ceramics prize. Established in 2001, the awards are funded by The Trusts Charitable Foundation and administered by Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery (formerly Lopdell House Gallery). A national award, the Portage Ceramics Awards also acknowledge Waitakere City’s long history of ceramic practice, dating back to 1852.

Entry is available to artists of New Zealand citizenship.The annual awards are judged each year by a different international judge, usually from the field of ceramics. An open call is made for entries, and since the third award onwards the judge has selected a group of finalists for exhibition. An exhibition is held at Te Uru and a publication produced.
