Arts Gold Awards 2017

  • Arts Gold Awards 2017

The Central Otago Arts Gold Awards 2017 aims to seek and celebrate the finest artisans Central Otago and New Zealand has to offer. The competition is open to all New Zealand citizens or permanent residents over 18 years of age (as at 31st August 2017). Artists are invited to submit their best artwork to the esteemed selection panel for the highest level of recognition and exposure. 

Judges for the 2017 Arts Gold Awards are Linda Tyler and Dee Copland.

Awards are as follows:

Art Excellence Award - $5000.

Arts Excellence Merit - 2x $1000 Awards

Central Otago Artist Award- For an artist who permanently resides within the Central Otago District Council or Queenstown Lakes District Council region. $3000

ENTRIES HAVE BEEN RECEIVED AND FINALISTS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED.

How to deliver and collect your art work:

• If your work is selected for the Finalists’ Exhibition for the Arts Gold Awards, it must be delivered between 10am and 4pm from Thursday 31st August until 4pm Monday 4th September 2017 to: Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery, 21 Centennial Ave, Alexandra. No late entries will be accepted.

• If you are not collecting your work after the exhibition, artists must provide a pre-paid courier ticket for the return of their artwork.

• Artists or couriers must collect unsold works from the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery between the hours of 10am and 4pm from Saturday 25th November until Sunday 3rd December 2017.

• A storage fee ($20 per week or part of) will be charged if artworks are not collected before 4th December. Sale of work • All entries must be for sale.

• All works selected for the Finalists’ Exhibition for the Arts Gold Awards must be available for continuous display at the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery for the duration of the exhibition - 16th September until 19th November 2017.

• Entrants must show an' Artist Price' on the entry form and whether they are GST registered or not. The 'Artist Price' must be the price you wish to receive for your artwork.  A 30% commission + 15 % GST will be added to determine the 'catalogue price'.  

• Commission structure on work sold: Central Stories commission structure is 70/30, the artist receives 70% of the 'catalogue price' and Central Stories receives 30% of the 'catalogue price'.

• If the artwork is sold Central Stories will pay the entrant the 'Artist Price' at the conclusion of the exhibition.

• Artworks will also be available for sale online via www.centralstories.com. Note that works may be sold by Central Stories prior to the exhibition opening.

• It is the entrant's responsibility to make their dealer or agent aware of their entry. If the entry is sold, it is the entrant's responsibility to arrange payment to their dealer. The dealer gallery may take a commission but Central Stories Museum and Gallery and CODAT is not party to that relationship.                                                                                    

Liability: 

Each entrant is responsible for his/her own delivery and insurance coverage. Every effort will be made to preserve, secure and protect the finalists’ art work. Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery will not be held responsible for damage to, or loss of art entries. By submitting art to this exhibition, the artist agrees to the inherent conditions. Copyright Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery and CODAT together with the major sponsors, reserve the right to publish reproductions of the entries in the press, on television or on their websites for promotional purposes. The entrants must agree to images of their art being used by Central Stories and the prize sponsors for any promotional and marketing purposes. The artist retains copyright to the art work.

KEY DATES:  

10pm, Wednesday 9th August 2017 Entries close for the Arts Gold Awards. All entries must be received and entry fee paid before 10pm. The selection process follows.

5pm, Friday August 18th 2017 All finalists selected for the Arts Gold Awards will be notified via email and listed on Central Stories website www.centralstories.com. Selected artists must then pack and deliver their work to Central Stories to arrive NOT LATER than 4pm Monday 4th September.  

4pm, Monday 4th September 2017 Finalists’ art work must be delivered before 4pm Monday 4th September to Central Stories Museum & Gallery, 21 Centennial Ave, Alexandra.  

Saturday 16th September 2017 Arts Gold Awards Finalists’ exhibition opening event from 5:30pm. Judges will announce the Arts Gold Awards winners at 6pm in the Russell Henderson Gallery, Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery, Alexandra.  

Sunday 17th September - Sunday 19th November 2017 Arts Gold Awards exhibition open to the public and works can be viewed at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery from 10am - 4pm daily. Floor talk by Judges 10:30 – 11:30am.      

4pm Sunday 19th November - Arts Gold Awards Exhibition closes  

Saturday 25th November until Sunday 3rd December 2017 Artists or couriers must collect unsold works from Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery between 10am and 4pm.  Artwork not collected by 4th December will be charged a storage fee of $20 per week or part of.
