The Central Otago Regional Choir's Autumn Concert. Felix Mendelssohn violin concerto in E minor featuring Cathy Irons and a selection of popular Ballet Concertos by Tchaikovsky and Beethoven plus Finlandia by Sibelius.
The Central Otago Regional Orchestra musicians are excited to have the opportunity to join in playing the Mendelssohn violin concerto with soloist Cathy Irons, Cathy says, "This concerto is an all-time favourite of mine. Since I was a child not yet able to play the violin, I used to listen to it in awe. It feels like a dream come true, to now have the facility to play it and to express every note from my own heart."
A popular regular performer in Otago, Cathy will be remembered for her Beethoven Violin Concerto with the orchestra a few years ago as well as her frequent Thomas Brown Art Gallery performances at Lake Hayes. It was at this Gallery in 2015 that Cathy had the privilege of performing on Michael Hill's personal violin, Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, 1755, named “The
Southern Star” in its first NZ public recital.
