Bouquets
Recently I read The Language of Flowers, a novel by Rebecca Dieffenbaugh.
Floriography has beenpractised in many cultures in one form or another for thousands of years, however the Victorians took the practise to new heights. Of course, one required a dictionary to decipher the message delivered within the posy or tussy mussy just received. Such fun!
Boxes
There is something about a lidded box that urges me to peek inside. Decent manners generally win out.
A lidded box suggests containment, indeed was designed for the purpose of containing. It can also provide concealment from the prying eye.
My lidded boxes are intended to act as both, and not for the ordinary or mundane. Their purpose is to contain treasures, be they mementoes and precious memories or secret pleasures.
