THE MIKADO
Alexandra/Clyde’s newest performing arts group Waiata Theatre Productions brings you The Mikado, one of the most famous and best loved of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas.
Bruce Potter and Duncan Anderson, the founders of Waiata Theatre Productions describe their type of theatre as small, intimate and professional.
The simplified plot goes something like this… Nanki-Poo loves Yum-Yum. Just one snag. She’s betrothed to Ko-Ko, the new Lord High Executioner. And Ko-Ko needs to find someone to execute – chop chop! Otherwise it’s his own neck on the block. Maybe Ko-Ko and Nanki-Poo can come to some arrangement… without anyone losing their heads.
The cast are well known to Central Otago audiences: Duncan Anderson ( Ko-Ko); Julie Parks is Yum-Yum; Sally Davies ( Katisha); Morgan Potter ( Pitti-Sing); Hannah Anderson (Peep-Bo); Anna Munro (Pooh-Bah); Bill Willis (Pish-Tush) and Bruce Potter plays dual roles of Nanki-Poo and the Mikado. In the chorus we have Amy Delport and Carla and Ron Cunningham, with other cast members doubling up as chorus where they are able.
Ranfurly Public Hall: Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March. Sundays performance is a matinee.
Matinees start at 2pm with all other Performances starting at 8 pm. The doors will be open ½ hour before all shows. Light refreshments will be served at half time and you are welcome to BYO for your enjoyment.
Tickets can be purchased from Alexandra and Ranfurly i-SITES. There will be door sales if not sold prior – CASH ONLY.
